We love nature!
At Hotel Neue Post, we know of the importance of environmental protection. In 2021, we rebuilt the main building of our hotel using only local materials such as wood, rock wood, and plaster. 90% of the companies that were involved are from the Mayrhofen/Hippach area and Zillertal – this way, we avoided long transport routes. Furthermore, we completely switched to LED lamps that are activated by motion sensors. A modern heating system measures the outside temperature and automatically adjusts the inside temperature in an energy-efficient way. Saving electricity is also the order of the day for refrigeration systems: the surplus heat from the freezers, refrigerators, etc. is fed back into the hot water system and thus reused. For many years now, we have been procuring 100% of our electrical energy from renewable resources via the Tyrolean regional utility TIWAG.
The power of the sun
We have installed a 205 kWp photovoltaic system on the hotel roof of that produces between 170,000 and 180,000 kilowatt hours per year – this helps us save about 60,000 kilos of CO2 emissions per year. On the roof of the outbuilding there is a thermal solar system (128,000 kilowatt hours per year) in the form of flat-plate collectors, which is used to process the hot water. For our creative delicacies, our kitchen team uses a lot of products from regional agriculture, such as fresh milk from local cows, meat and sausage products from the region, and vegetables and fruit that are in season.
